System Pavers Hardscape Specialist training begins at company headquarters in Newport Beach, Calif. This is the hotspot where soon-to-be specialists come together for an exciting week of instruction. According to company founder Doug Lueck, trainees find themselves pleasantly surprised by the stimulating training that demands creative energy and improvisation skills.
System Pavers invests a great deal in its employees. “We may be building and selling interlocking paving stones, but we are in the people business,” says Lueck. “We are always recruiting, always looking for great people—always raising the bar.”
To have his top-notch staff in place and at the ready, Lueck developed a training program that pulls from more than 50 instructive videos created over the course of the company’s 15 years in the business. Seven to nine experienced trainers employ video and verbal instruction providing insights into the finer points of selling interlocking pavers.
Discussion and role playing sessions prepare the trainees for work in the field. Hard-hitting sales techniques are broken down into eight easy-to-understand lessons, parsed out over the week-long course, culminating in a scored verbal test. In the end, System Pavers selects the very best of the best Hardscape Specialist candidates—ensuring the superior customer service for which they are recognized.
"We look for can-do people who want to grow and are continually striving to improve," Lueck adds. To this end, managers and trainers continuously groom Hardscape Specialists to strive for the highest levels of excellence—in customer service, onsite consultations and personalized client relationships.
